Cloud Discovery & Visibility (CDV) uses the Amazon Web Services (AWS) Route 53 API to perform Discovery operations on AWS infrastructures. Amazon restricts use of this API to 5 calls per second per account. Users can request a quota increase from AWS to adjust the API rate limit but at a significant cost, so it is not a feasible option in most cases.
The CDV Route 53 API regulator lets users configure the maximum number of AWS Route 53 API calls per second that CDV makes. You can lower this setting if other operations use Route 53 services at the same time as CDV Discovery (especially Organization-level Discovery).
To change the number of Route 53 API calls that CDV uses:
-
In CDV, go to the Route 53 API calls per second settings. (Click the Settings tab, then under Route 53 API calls per second, click Edit.)
-
Enter the maximum number of Route 53 API calls per second that CDV should use per AWS account.
-
When you're done, click Save.
