After configuring and running discovery for a Amazon Web Services (AWS) system, Cloud
Discovery & Visibility (CDV) will import Amazon Web Services (AWS) infrastructure
data into Address Manager.
Within Address Manager, CDV creates tags for blocks, networks, devices, IP addresses,
views, zones, and resource records that it discovers to distinguish them from
user-created resources. AWS Tag names and hierarchy are as follows:
Attention: If you update the name of a Configuration or View in Address Manager
after you enable discovery and visibility, CDV will no longer import AWS infrastructure
changes into Address Manager. To import infrastructure changes into Address Manager with
the changed configuration and view names, you must reconfigure the discovery and
visibility.
Note: In previous versions of CDV, only discovered block, network, and device resources were tagged,
and these resources were tagged with the lowest tag of the hierarchy only. CDV 26.1
expands the range of tagged resources to include IP addresses, views, zones, and
resource records. Additionally, resources discovered by CDV 26.1 are now tagged with all
tags in the hierarchy. CDV 26.1 tags additional cloud resources (IP addresses, views,
zones, and resource records) by default. This new tagging behaviour can be disabled
using the
Tag additional cloud resources panel on the
Settings tab. For more information, refer to

Tagged device resources
When importing data to Address Manager, CDV tags device resources it finds, like EC2
instances, load balancers, private endpoints, and EKS (Elastic Kubernetes Services)
instances. These appear in Address Manager under the CD&V
group, within their AWS account and region.
