To access this page, select the Probes tab in the Network Discovery & Visibility GUI.

Use the Probes page to create discovery probes on BlueCat Address Manager and BlueCat DNS/DHCP Servers for network discovery. You can also manage these probes from this page.

By default, each probe entry in the Probes table has the following attributes:
Column Description
Name The unique name provided for the probe.
Server ID The unique ID of the Address Manager or DNS/DHCP Server on which the probe is deployed.
Creation time The date and time when the probe was created.

The date is displayed in the format MM DD, YYYY and time is displayed in the format hh:mm:ss AM/PM.

Description The description provided for the BlueCat server on which the probe is deployed.
Actions (vertical ellipsis icon)

Actions you can perform on the selected probe: view additional information about the probe, edit configured settings, and delete the probe.

Actions you can perform

  • Similar to other tables in Integrity, you can search for specific probes in the Probes table by name, sort and customize the table, as well as filter, refresh, and download table data.
  • Create discovery probes—refer to Create discovery probes for details.
  • View additional information about discovery probes—to view additional information about probes:
    Select an entry in the Probes table, or select the vertical ellipsis icon for a probe in the table, then select View details. The expanded details section displays additional information about the selected probe, such as the probe type, ID, probe creation time, description, and the Address Manager or BlueCat DNS/DHCP Server on which the probe is deployed.
  • Edit settings configured for a probe—to edit the configured settings for a probe:
  1. Do one of the following:
    • Select the vertical ellipsis icon for a probe entry in the Probes table, then select Edit.
    • Select a probe entry in the Probes table, then select Edit in the expanded details section that appears.
  2. Modify the parameters as required, then select Update. For details on the parameters, refer to Create discovery probes.

    The probe settings are updated and you're taken back to the Probes page.

  • Delete discovery probes—you can delete any discovery probe that is not being used in a discovery task.

To delete one or more discovery probes:

  1. Do one of the following:
    • Select the checkbox for one or more probes in the Probes table, then select Actions > Delete selected.
    • Select the vertical ellipsis icon for a probe in the Probes table, then select Delete.
    • Select a probe entry in the Probes table, then select Delete in the expanded details section that appears.

    A confirmation window appears, asking you to confirm the deletion.

  2. Select Delete again.

    If the selected probes are not being used in a discovery task, the probes are successfully deleted. You're taken back to the Probes page.

    If any selected probes are currently being used in a discovery task, such probes cannot be deleted and an error message is displayed. Select Cancel to go back to the Probes page.
