To access this page, select the Tasks tab in the Network Discovery & Visibility GUI.

Use the Tasks page to create discovery tasks; these tasks will be stored in Network Discovery. You can also manage all the created asks from this page.

By default, each task entry in the Tasks table has the following attributes:
Column Description
Name The unique name provided for the task.
Probe The name of the probe assigned to run the discovery scans.
Policy The name of the policy assigned to the probe.
Status The current status of the task.
  • Pending: If the task is created but is scheduled to run later.
  • Queued: If the task is ready to run once the probe is ready.
  • Running: If the task is running.
Active The state of the task: Yes if the task is currently enabled (active), and No if the task is currently disabled (inactive).
Start time The date and time when the task begins to run.

The date is displayed in the format MM DD, YYYY and time is displayed in the format hh:mm:ss AM/PM.

Actions (vertical ellipsis icon)

Actions you can perform on the selected task: view additional information about the task, edit configured settings, delete the task, enable or disable the task, and run the task at the current time.

Actions you can perform

You can perform the following actions from this page:
  • Similar to other tables in Integrity, you can search for specific tasks in the Tasks table by name, sort and customize the table, as well as filter, refresh, and download table data.
  • Create discovery tasks—refer to Create discovery tasks for details.
  • View additional information about a task—to view additional information about a task:
    Select its corresponding entry in the Tasks table, or select the vertical ellipsis icon for the task in the table, then select View details. The expanded details section displays additional information such as the IDs of the task, probe, and policy, the configured schedule, current state, and last status of the task.
  • Run discovery tasks at the current time (on-demand)—to run one or more tasks at the current time instead of the scheduled time:
  1. Do one of the following:
    • Select the checkbox for one or more tasks in the Tasks table, then select Actions > Run now.
    • Select the vertical ellipsis icon for a task in the Tasks table, then select Run now.
  2. In the Run discovery task window that appears, select Run now again.

    Once the task completes, you can view the associated results and logs by selecting the task name in the Tasks table. The task-name page opens, displaying links to the task results and logs, and their associated details such as result creation time and duration of task run.

  • View results and logs associated with tasks—to view
    select the task name in the Discovery tasks table. The task-<name> page opens, with the Results and Logs tabs, displaying the required information.
    For details on the results and logs displayed and how to analyze them, refer to About the Discovery Tasks page.
  • Edit settings configured for a task—to edit the configured settings for a task:
  1. Do one of the following:
    • Select the vertical ellipsis icon for a task entry in the Tasks table, then select Edit.
    • Select a task entry in the Tasks table, then select Edit in the expanded details section that appears.
  2. Modify the parameters as required, then select Update. For details on the parameters, refer to Create discovery tasks.

    The task settings are updated and you're taken back to the Tasks page.

  • Delete discovery tasks—you can delete one or more discovery tasks by using the following procedure:
Note: When you delete a task, all of its associated results are also deleted automatically. However, the associated logs are not deleted due to audit requirements, and will remain available even after the task is deleted.
  1. Do one of the following:
    • Select the checkbox for one or more tasks in the Tasks table, then select Actions > Delete selected.
    • Select the vertical ellipsis icon for a task entry in the Tasks table, then select Delete.
    • Select a task entry in the Tasks table, then select Delete in the expanded details section that appears.

    A confirmation window appears, asking you to confirm the deletion.

  2. Select Delete again.

    The selected tasks are successfully deleted along with their associated results.

  • Enable and disable tasks—you can enable one or more tasks that are currently inactive (disabled) so that the tasks can be used for executing discovery. Similarly, you can disable one or more tasks that are currently active (enabled) to prevent the tasks from being used. To enable or disable one or more tasks:
    1. Do one of the following:
      • Select the checkbox for one or more tasks in the Tasks table, then select Actions > Enable or Disable.
      • Select the vertical ellipsis icon for a task in the Tasks table, then select Enable or Disable.
    2. For tasks that you disabled, the Active status in the Tasks table changes from Yes to No. For tasks that you enabled, the Active status changes from No to Yes.
