Use DHCP custom options to create DHCP options that aren't directly supported in Address Manager.

To add a DHCP custom option, you must first define the DHCP custom option. After you have defined a DHCP custom option, you can select that option when adding a DHCP client deployment option.

To add a DHCP custom option:

The following steps are to define DHCP custom options:

  1. Select the IPAM tab in the sidebar, then select DHCP settings.
  2. Select the DHCP custom option definitions tab.
  3. Select New.
  4. Under General, define the custom option:
    • Code—select the DHCP option code number.
    • Name—enter a descriptive name for the custom option.
      Note: Entering a name that consists only of numbers will cause deployment failures.
    • Display name—enter a display name for the custom option. The display name appears in the Name drop-down menu of the Create DHCPv4 client option interface.
    • Description—enter a description for the custom option.
    • Value type—select the option value type from the drop-down menu.
    • Allow multiple—select the checkbox to allow multiple option values.
  5. In the Change control section, add comments if required.
  6. Select Create or Create and add another.

The following steps are to add defined DHCP custom options:

  1. Navigate to the object (i.e. configuration, server) that you are adding a DHCP custom option to.
  2. Select the Deployment options tab.
  3. Select New > DHCPv4 client option.
  4. Under General, select the option and set its parameters:
    • Name—select the DHCP custom option you have previously defined. When you select an option, parameter fields for the option display.
  5. On the Servers tab, select the servers or server group to which the option applies:
    • All servers—applies the deployment option to all servers in the configuration.
    • Server group—applies the deployment option to a specific server group in the configuration. Select a server group from the drop-down list.
      Attention: You cannot configure DHCP deployment options on a multi-primary server group.
    • Server—applies the deployment option to a specific server in the configuration. Select a server from the drop-down list.
      Attention: You cannot configure DHCP deployment options on servers that are part of a multi-primary server group.
    Note: You can't override deployment options set at the configuration level from the server group level if the deployment option is applied to a specific server within a server group.
  6. In the Change control section, add comments if required.
  7. Select Create or Create and add another.
