DHCP vendor deployment options configure options specific to a pre-defined vendor profile.

Vendor profiles and option definitions are created as described in DHCP vendor profiles and options, but they aren't defined with any values. Values are assigned when the vendor deployment options are added.

Attention: You must create a DHCP vendor profile and add a DHCP vendor option definition before adding a DHCP vendor deployment option. If no vendor profile and DHCP vendor option definition exists, DHCP vendor option will not be accessible when creating options from the Deployment options tab. For more information on creating profiles and definitions, refer to Creating a DHCP vendor profile and Adding option definitions to a DHCP vendor profile.
Attention: Deployment option inheritance
  • Options set at higher levels are inherited at child or lower levels, unless overwritten at the lower level.
  • When configuring deployment options, any options set at the server group level will override options set at the configuration level. Any deployment options set at the server level will override options set at the server group level including the configuration level.
  • If you add options at the server level that will override the options previously set at the server group or configuration level, Address Manager displays options added at the server level overriding options set at the higher object level.
  • To overwrite an inherited value at a lower level, you must create a new deployment option of the same type with the modified value. Editing an inherited deployment option at the child level actually edits the option at its original level. To override an inherited option, you must create a new instance of the option at the lower level.

To add a DHCP vendor level deployment option:

  1. Navigate to the object (i.e. configuration, server) that you are adding a DHCP vendor option to.
  2. Select the Deployment options tab.
  3. Select New > DHCP vendor option.
  4. Under General, select the option and set its parameters:
    • Name—select the DHCP vendor option you have previously defined. When you select an option, parameter fields for the option display.
  5. On the Servers tab, select the servers or server group to which the option applies:
    • All servers—applies the deployment option to all servers in the configuration.
    • Server group—applies the deployment option to a specific server group in the configuration. Select a server group from the drop-down list.
Attention: You cannot configure DHCP deployment options on a multi-primary server group.
    • Server—applies the deployment option to a specific server in the configuration. Select a server from the drop-down list.
Attention: You cannot configure DHCP deployment options on servers that are part of a multi-primary server group.
Note: You can't override deployment options set at the configuration level from the server group level if the deployment option is applied to a specific server within a server group.
  6. In the Change control section, add comments if required.
  7. Select Create or Create and add another.
