Add DHCPv4 ranges to configure IPv4 addresses that can be allocated to clients on the network.
To add IPv4 DHCP ranges:
- Select the IPAM tab in the sidebar, then select IPv4 blocks.
- Navigate to the IPv4 network that you wish to add a DHCPv4 range to by selecting the network's range in the IPv4 blocks and networks table, or by selecting the network in the IPAM tree view panel.
- Select the IPv4 DHCP ranges tab.
-
Select New.
Note: If working with a /31 network, you can only create a DHCP range using IP Addresses.
-
Under General, set the following parameters:
- Name—enter a descriptive name for the DHCP range.
- Split DHCP range around static, reserved and gateway addresses—select the checkbox to automatically split the DHCP range at any static or reserved addresses that may be in the network and within the DHCP range. Upon deployment, Address Manager automatically creates multiple DHCP pools on the managed server, leaving any static addresses outside of the DHCP range you specify. When not selected, any static or reserved addresses within the DHCP range become part of the DHCP range.
- Create DHCP range using—select from the
following options:
- IP addresses—enter the Start address and End address of the IPv4 DHCP range.
- Offsets—enter the offsets from the start and end of the network that mark the boundaries of the DHCP range.
- Offset and percentage—select Start offset to offset the start of the DHCP range from the start of the network. Select End offset to offset the start if the DHCP range from the end of the network. After selecting the offset type, enter a percentage value indicating the percentage of the parent network that will be included in the DHCP range (the DHCP range size), starting at the offset.
- Template—select an IPv4 template that will be assigned to the IPv4 DHCP range.
-
On the DHCP alert settings tab, set the values for
DHCP alerts:
Inherit watermark values from parent—when selected, the block inherits the DHCP alert settings from its parent object.
Low watermark—triggers an alert when DHCP use falls below this value (when too few addresses are being used).
High watermark—triggers an alert when a DHCP use rises above this value (when too many addresses are being used).
Note: If you are using a Shared Network in DHCP, a DHCP Alert notification for all networks inside the Shared Network will be sent as a single entity notification using the DHCP Alert set at the configuration level. DHCP Alerts for each individual network within any Shared Network will also be sent only if object-specific DHCP Alerts are set at the network or DHCPv4 range level. - In the Change control section, add comments if required.
- Select Create or select Create and add another.
