As with IPv4, you must create an IPv6 network before you can create IPv6 addresses.

You can create an IPv6 network directly under the IPv6 Unique Local Address Space, the Global Unicast Address Space, or you can create it under a child block. IPv6 network objects can range in size from /64 to /128.

To create an IPv6 network:

  1. Select the IPAM tab in the sidebar, then select IPv6 blocks.
  2. Select the 2000::/3 (Global Unicast Address Space) range, or the fc00::/6 (Unique Local Address Space) range.
  3. To create a network directly within the current block, select New > IPv6 network. To create a network within a sub-block, select the block's range in the IPv6 blocks table, or in the IPAM tree view panel. Once you have navigated to the sub-block, select New > IPv6 network.
  4. Under General, set the following parameters:
    • Range—enter the range for the network in CIDR notation.
    • Create a network range in sequence automatically—select this option to have Address Manager automatically create the first possible network in the block. The network prefix and range are calculated automatically and appear in the Range field.
Note: If you select this option, by default, Address Manager creates /64 network. If you want to create a network with different prefixes, make sure to change the size of the prefix.
    • Name—enter a name for the network.
    • Location—select a location from the drop-down menu on which the IP object that you are adding or editing will be based.
  5. Under Change control, add comments, if required.
  6. Select Create or Create and add another.
