Add a listener interface (listener) to the BIG-IP DNS Server that will be used to listen for DNS NOTIFY messages from the primary DNS server.

The BIG-IP DNS Server listens for notifications of zone transfers from the primary DNS server via a listener interface. F5 customers can configure a listener using the Published interface functionality in Address Manager.

To add a listener interface:

  1. Select the Servers tab in the sidebar, then select Servers.
  2. Select the name of a BIG-IP DNS Server.
  3. Select the Interfaces tab.
  4. Select New.
  5. Under General, set the following server interface parameters:
    • Name—enter Listener. A FQDN isn't required.
    • Primary address—enter the IPv4 or IPv6 address for the Listener interface. The IP address of the listener should be able to communicate with the Self IP of the BIG-IP DNS server.
  6. In the Change control section, add comments if required.
  7. Select Create.
