Add or edit VLAN interfaces to managed DNS/DHCP Servers from the Address Manager user interface. BlueCat recommends this method for most scenarios, including upgrades and new installations of DNS/DHCP Server
The following is a list of provisions for VLAN interfaces:
- You can add a maximum of 195 interfaces per DNS/DHCP Server appliance or VM
- You can configure a maximum of 400 total IP addresses per DNS/DHCP Server appliance or VM, including IPv4, IPv6, IPv6 link-local addresses, and loopback addresses.
To add a VLAN interface:
- Select the Servers tab in the sidebar, then select Servers.
- Select the name of a server.
- Select the Services tab.
- Under Server management and configuration, locate the Interfaces service panel and select Edit service.
- Select an interface tab, such as eth0.
- Under VLANs, enter a VLAN ID between 1 and 4096.
- Select Add VLAN.
- In the Description field, enter a name for the VLAN interface. You can enter up to 80 alphanumeric characters including spaces, but excluding special characters.

In the Address and Prefix length
fields, enter an IPv4 or IPv6 address and prefix length. For example,
Address:
192.0.2.100and Prefix length:24or Address:2001:db8::AC10:FE02Prefix length:64. This will be the IP address assigned to the newly created VLAN interface. - Select the Add (+) button.
- Select Save.
After adding the VLAN interface, you must manually restart the DHCP service from
the Address Manager user interface.
