Add or edit VLAN interfaces to managed DNS/DHCP Servers from the Address Manager user interface. BlueCat recommends this method for most scenarios, including upgrades and new installations of DNS/DHCP Server

The following is a list of provisions for VLAN interfaces:
  • You can add a maximum of 195 interfaces per DNS/DHCP Server appliance or VM
  • You can configure a maximum of 400 total IP addresses per DNS/DHCP Server appliance or VM, including IPv4, IPv6, IPv6 link-local addresses, and loopback addresses.

To add or edit a VLAN interface:

  1. Select the Servers tab. Tabs remember the page you last worked on, so select the tab again to ensure you're on the Configuration information page.
  2. Under Servers, click a server name. The Details tab for the server opens.
  3. Click the server name menu and select Service Configuration.
  4. From the Service Type drop-down menu, select Interfaces.
  5. Under the Interface column, choose eth0 then navigate across the row to the Action column and click Add or Edit.
    If adding a VLAN interface:
Note: The Parent Interface, Interface, and Type fields are automatically populated and can't be edited.
    If editing a VLAN interface:
Note: The VLAN ID, Interface, and Type fields are automatically populated and can't be edited.
  6. The number in the VLAN ID field is automatically populated sequentially with a number from 1 to 4094 based on the available VLANs, but you can also enter a VLAN ID manually.
  7. In the Description field, enter a name for the VLAN interface. You can enter up to 80 alphanumeric characters including spaces, but excluding special characters.
  8. Select the Active check box to activate the VLAN interface. Deselect the check box to disable the VLAN interface.
  9. In the Address/CIDR field, enter an IPv4 or IPv6 address and netmask/prefix using CIDR notation. For example, 192.0.2.100/24 or 2001:db8::AC10:FE02/64. This will be the IP address assigned to the newly created VLAN interface. If no netmask is included for an IPv4 address, the UI will not accept the address. For an IPv6 address missing a prefix, /128 will be automatically added.
  10. Click Add Address. The IP address appears in the Addresses list. To delete an address, select an IP address from the Addresses list and click Remove.
  11. Click OK. The pop-up window closes and the newly created VLAN interface appears in the Interfaces table.
  12. Click OK. The pop-up window closes and the newly created VLAN interface appears in the Interfaces table.
  13. Under the Interface column, expand or collapse eth0 to view the configured VLAN interfaces.
You must manually restart DHCP service from the Address Manager user interface.
