Place two or more IPv6 blocks or networks under a new parent IPv6 block.

Select two or more contiguous IPv6 blocks or networks in the same IPv6 address space (either Unique Local or Global Unicast) to be located under a new parent IPv6 block.
Note: Contiguous blocks or networks means that there can't be unselected address space between the selected blocks or networks. Users must have Add access rights on IPv6 objects in order to add a parent IPv6 blocks.
  • The new parent IPv6 block must be smaller than the original parent block.
  • The new parent IPv6 block must not smaller than /126.
  • The new parent block must form a CIDR block.
  • The new parent IPv6 block must be an exact fit to the blocks/networks selected (starting from the smallest address within the blocks or networks selected, and ending at the biggest one on the other side).
  • You can't add a new parent IPv6 block to the top-level IPv6 blocks (Unique Local and Global Unicast).
  • You can't add a parent IPv6 block to a single existing block. You must select at least two contiguous IPv6 blocks or networks. However, you can add a new parent IPv6 block to a single existing IPv6 network. The new parent block will be the same size as the network itself.

To add a parent IPv6 block:

  1. Select the IPAM tab in the sidebar, then select IPv6 blocks.
  2. Navigate to the IPv6 blocks and networks table that contains the IPv6 blocks you wish to add a parent block to.
  3. Select the check boxes for two or more IPv6 blocks.
  4. Select Actions > Create parent block.
  5. Under General, set the name and location for the block:
    • Name—enter a name for the new parent block to be added.
    • Location—(Optional) select a location from the drop-down menu on which the IP object that you are adding or editing will be based.
  6. In the Change control section, add comments if required.
  7. Select Save.
