Use external hosts to link resource records on hosts that aren't managed by Address Manager.

External Hosts are hosts outside of your managed network. Use external hosts to link resource records on hosts that aren't managed by Address Manager. If a view contains references to entities completely outside of the IP space managed by Address Manager, they're defined here. External hosts aren't deployed to your managed servers. External hosts can be added from the External Hosts tab of a DNS view, or from the External Hosts tab of a zone template created at the configuration level.
Note: CNAME records added to zone templates created at the view level can only be linked to external hosts added from the External Hosts tab for that view. CNAME records added to zone templates created at the configuration level can only be linked to external hosts added from the External Hosts tab of the configuration level zone template.

To add an external host:

  1. From the configuration drop-down menu, select a configuration.
  2. Select the DNS tab. Tabs remember the page you last worked on, so select the tab again to ensure you're on the Configuration information page.
  3. Click the External Hosts tab.
  4. Under External Hosts, click New.
  5. Under General, enter the fully qualified domain name for the external host in the Name field.
  6. Under Optional, enter comments to describe the external host in the Comments field.
  7. Under Change Control, add comments, if required.
  8. Click Add or click Add Next.
