Assigning a host name to a network gateway - BlueCat Integrity - 26.1.0

You can assign a host name to a network gateway address.

1. Select the IPAM tab in the sidebar, then select IPv4 blocks.
2. Navigate to the IPv4 network that contains the network gateway address by selecting the network's range in the IPv4 blocks and networks table, or by selecting the network in the IPAM tree view panel.
3. Select the row actions button (⋮) the network gateway address in the IPv4 addresses table, then select Edit.
4. Under General, set the following parameters:
   1. MAC address—enter the MAC address for the IP address in the format nnnnnnnnnnnn, nn-nn-nn-nn-nn-nn, or nn:nn:nn:nn:nn:nn, where nn is a hexadecimal value from 00 to FF.
   2. Hostname —select from the following options:
      • Same as zone—select this option to give the host the same name as the zone.
      • Specify name—enter the name for the host record assignment.
   3. Reverse record—select the checkbox to create a reverse record for the host.
   4. Location—select a location from the drop-down menu to associate the IP address to a location.
   5. IP address name—enter a descriptive name for the IP address.
5. In the DNS section, enter the view or views to which the IP address is to be assigned.
6. Under PTR records, set the following options:
   • View—select a view from the drop-down menu to specify the DNS view from which you want to select external host records or to which you want to add external host records.
     • Use existing unmanaged host—select this option to link a PTR record to existing external host records in the selected view. Enter a the name of an external host record in the Select unmanaged host field and select Add PTR record.
     • Create a new unmanaged host—select this option to create a new external host record in the selected view and link a PTR record to it. Enter the fully qualified domain name in the Unmanaged host name field and select Add PTR record.
     • You can add multiple external host records from different views. External host records that are already linked will be displayed.
     • To remove an external host record, select the Remove button beside the external host record.
7. In the Device section, associate the address with a new or existing device. The Device section may not be editable if you don't have the associated access rights.
   • Select existing device—select this option if you have already defined devices on the Devices page. Enter the name of the device in the Device field.
   • New device—select this option to create a new device. In the Device name field, enter a descriptive name for the device.
8. In the Change control section, add comments if required.
9. Select Save.
