Clear an IPv4 address assignment if you want to make the address available for a different use. You can re-assign cleared IPv4 addresses as necessary.

Important: Clearing a gateway address assignment does not delete the gateway address itself; this action only deletes associated links and parameters. To delete the gateway address entirely, you must set the Gateway definition to None in the IPv4 network settings.

Clearing a gateway address will remove the following properties and associations from the IP address:

  • Tags
  • Device
  • IP address name
  • Location
  • UDF values
Note: Once you clear the gateway address assignment, you can't restore links to these objects. You must manually re-establish all links to the gateway address.

To clear an IPv4 address:

  1. Select the IPAM tab in the sidebar, then select IPv4 blocks.
  2. Navigate to the IPv4 network that contains the IPv4 address(es) you want to clear by selecting the network's range in the IPv4 blocks and networks table, or by selecting the network in the IPAM tree view panel.
  3. Choose one of the following ways to clear the address assignment:
    • Select the check box beside one or more IPv4 addresses that you want to clear, then select Actions > Delete Selected. Enter a Change control comment if required, then select Delete IPv4 addresses.
    • Select the row actions button () for the IP address, then select Delete. Enter a Change control comment if required, then select Delete IPv4 address.
    • Select the allocated IP address, then select the object menu () on the IP address page and select Delete. Enter a Change control comment if required, then select Delete IPv4 address.
