Configuring DHCP failover begins by assigning two DHCP deployment roles to the same IP block or network.

Attention: If you configure a DHCPv4 raw option on a DHCPv4 range, the DHCPv4 raw option is only deployed on the Primary server in DHCP Failover. To ensure that the DHCPv4 raw option is also configured on the Secondary server, you must configure a second DHCPv4 raw option on the DHCPv4 range and deploy the option to the Secondary server.

To configure failover deployment roles:

  1. Select the IPAM tab in the sidebar, then select IPv4 blocks.
  2. Navigate to the IPv4 block or IPv4 network containing the DHCP failover pools.
  3. Select the Deployment roles tab.
  4. Select New > DHCP deployment role.
  5. Under General, set the following parameters:
    • Role—select Primary from the drop-down list.
    • Primary interface—select the interface for the primary server or xHA pair.
    • Secondary interface—select the interface for the secondary server or xHA pair for failover.
  6. In the Change control section, add comments if required.
  7. Select Create or Create and add another.
