You need to create and configure an IPv6 network to allocate addresses.
To configure DHCPv6:
Create an IPv6 network:
- Select the IP Space tab. Tabs remember the page you last worked on, so select the tab again to ensure you're on the Configuration information page.
- From the configuration drop-down menu, select a configuration.
- Click the IPv6 tab. Under IPv6 Blocks, select the block in which you want to add the network.
- Click New and select IPv6 Network.
-
Under Network Information, set the following
parameters:
- Range—type or adjust the network prefix and range.
- Create a Network Range in Sequence
Automatically—select this option to have Address Manager automatically create the
first possible network in the block. The network prefix and range are
calculated automatically and appear in the Range
field.Note: If you select this option, by default, Address Manager creates /64 network. If you want to create a network with different prefixes, make sure to change the size of the prefix.
- Name—type a name for the block or network.
- Location—(Optional) select a
location from the drop-down menu on which the IP object that you are
adding or editing will be based. The most frequently used location
objects are at the top of the list.
- Inherited Location—displays the location annotation that's inherited from the parent object. If you don't include a location, this default location will be used for the current object and its child objects.
- Under Change Control, add comments, if required.
- Click Add.
Create an IPv6 DHCP range:
- Under Address Space, click an IPv6 network.
- Click the DHCPv6 Ranges tab.
- Under DHCP Ranges, click New. If you are editing a DHCPv6 range, click the DHCPv6 range name menu and select Edit.
-
If you are adding a new DHCPv6 range, under DHCP Range
Information, define the address range size.
- Range Size—choose the range of addresses from the drop-down menu or select Custom Size to define the range of addresses you want to create.
- Auto Create—select this check box to
automatically create the IPv6 DHCP range. Deselect the check box if you
want to set a specific location to create. The following options become
available when deselected:
- Range Offset—specify the number of addresses that you want to leave out. For example, if you want to exclude the first 3000 addresses for other uses and create the DHCP range, enter 3000. Address Manager will create the DHCP range defined in the Range Size section from the 3001st address.
- Range Start Address—enter a specific IPv6 network address. From this point, Address Manager will create the DHCP range defined in the Range Size section.
- Name—enter a descriptive name of the IPv6 DHCP range.
- Under Change Control, add comments, if required.
- Click Add.
Add a deployment role to the IPv6 network to associate the DHCPv6 range to a DNS/DHCP Server
