Address Manager provides the ability to group servers within a server group.
A server group provide a logical container that allows you to apply DNS and DHCP deployment options to all servers that make up the group. Once you have created a server group, you can add one or more DNS/DHCP Servers to the server group. DNS or DHCP options can then be applied to the server group and these options will be inherited by all servers that are added to that specific server group. When DNS or DHCP options are removed from the server group, the options are no longer inherited by the servers that are added to that group.
Starting in Address Manager and DNS/DHCP Server v9.6.0, you can also configure a server
group for multi-primary DNS zone deployments by configuring a multi-primary server groups.
Servers and xHA pairs that have been added to a multi-primary server group are clustered
together and can be configured with a Multi-Primary or Hidden Multi-Primary
DNS deployment role at the DNS zone level. Once deployed, DNS zone configurations are
applied to all servers within the multi-primary server group.
- Only BlueCat DNS/DHCP Servers can be added to a server group.
- A DNS/DHCP Server or xHA pair can only be added to a single server group.
