Use the Transaction History Writing operation to control the transaction history information that is written to the Address Manager database.

Controlling the writing of transaction history information to the database can reduce the rate of growth of the database and improve performance. You can control whether Address Manager object history information is written in parallel, or whether DDNS and DHCP transaction history information is written to the database.

Important: If Database Replication is enabled, changes to Transaction History Writing operations must be performed only on the Primary Address Manager server, not on any Standby servers.
Important: When the database is restored from a backup, the Transaction History Writing settings revert back to the settings that were configured at the time of the database backup.

To control the writing of transaction history:

  1. Select the Administration tab. Tabs remember the page you last worked on, so select the tab again to ensure you're on the Administration page.
  2. Under Database Management, click Database Management. The Database Management page opens.
  3. Click Transaction History Writing. The Transaction History Writing page opens.
    • Under Control Transaction History Writing, select the following:
      • Enable Parallel Writing—select this check box to enable parallel writing of Address Manager object history to the Address Manager database; deselect this check box to disable parallel writing of Address Manager object history to the Address Manager database.
        Note: Enabling the parallel writing operation results in improved speed and performance in the writing of object history to the database.
    • Under Control Dynamic Transaction History, select one or both of the following:
      • Exclude DDNS history—select this check box to exclude DDNS transaction history information from being written to the Address Manager database; deselect this check box to include the writing of DDNS transaction history information to the Address Manager database.
        Note: When the Exclude DDNS history check box is selected, transaction history related to entity records, such as add and delete operations performed on Host or TXT entity records, does not appear in the Transaction History operation details.
      • Exclude DHCP history—select this check box to exclude DHCP transaction history information from being written to the Address Manager database; deselect this check box to include the writing of DHCP transaction history information to the Address Manager database.
        Note: When the Exclude DHCP history check box is selected, transaction history of network objects related to DHCP leases, suh as add and delete operations performed on IP addresses, MAC addresses, and DUIDs (for IPv6), does not appear in the Transaction History operation details. However, lease history of those IP addresses is still displayed in the relevant IP space pages.
  4. Under Change Control, add comments, if required.
  5. Click OK.
