Prerequisites: Ensure that the NTP service is
synchronized before creating recurring discovery tasks. If you update (synchronize) the
NTP service after creating discovery tasks, you must edit the task to force
rescheduling. This updates the next run time to align with the current system clock and
restores normal execution. This workaround addresses an issue where discovery tasks fail
to trigger at scheduled intervals when system time moves backward due to NTP
updates.
Use the following procedure to create a discovery task:
Attention: Discovery tasks created using a remote
probe remain indefinitely in Running status and never return discovery
results after system time moves backward due to NTP updates. To prevent this issue,
ensure that the NTP service is synchronized before enabling the Network Discovery
& Visibility Feature Module. If you update
(synchronize) the NTP service after enabling the Feature Module, you must restart the Network Discovery & Visibility Feature Module. After restart, the
scheduled run times for all jobs are calculated from the beginning.
