Creating IPv4 Templates - BlueCat Integrity - 9.5.0

You can create several templates in the IP Space tab, but you can only assign one template to an object.

1. Select the IP Space tab. Tabs remember the page you last worked on, so select the tab again to ensure you're on the Configuration information page.
2. From the configuration drop-down menu, select a configuration.
3. Under IPv4 Templates, click New > Template.
4. Under General, set the name for the template and determine the location of the gateway:
   • Name—enter a name for the template.
   • Gateway Offset—enter a value for the position of the gateway. Select from start or from end to offset the gateway from the start or end of the object.
5. Under Network Structure, define reserved addresses, DHCP range, or IP group settings. Click the New button and then use these fields to create an network structure:
   Note: IP addresses included in different types of network structures can't be overlapped. Overlapping IP addresses in different network structures will cause an error.

   • Type—select Reserved Addresses, DHCP Range, or IP Group. If you select DHCP Range, you can select Split DHCP range around static, reserved and gateway addresses to automatically split the DHCP range at any static or reserved addresses that may be in the network and within the DHCP range. Upon deployment, Address Manager automatically creates multiple DHCP pools on the managed server, leaving any static addresses outside of the DHCP range you specify. When not selected, any static or reserved addresses within the DHCP range become part of the DHCP range.
   • Defined By—select the type of method that will be used to create a DHCP range. This field will only be available when DHCP Range is selected. If you select Offset and Size or Offset and Percentage, the Offset and Size fields appear. If you select Offsets, the Start Offset and End Offset fields appear. Depending on the method selected, different values are required in the Offset and Size and Size or Start Offset and End Offset fields.
   • Direction—only available when defining a DHCP range by Offset and Size or Offset and Percentage. Select from start or from end to offset the reserved addresses or DHCP range from the start or end of the network. When you select from start, the offset is counted from the start of the IPv4 object network and the reserved addresses or DHCP range is counted forward. When you select from end, the offset is counted from the end of the network, and the reserved addresses or DHCP range is counted backward.
     Two examples:

     • In the network 192.0.1.0/24, selecting from start and setting Offset to 10 and Size to 10 creates a range of 10 addresses beginning at 192.0.1.10 and counting forward to 192.0.1.19.
     • In the network 192.0.1.0/24, selecting from end and setting Offset to 10 and Size to 10 creates a range of 10 addresses beginning at 192.0.1.245 and counting backward to 192.0.1.236.
   • Offset or Start Offset—enter a value for the starting position of the address block or DHCP range. If you select Offsets, enter a value for the starting position of the DHCP range.
   • Size or End Offset—for Reserved Addresses and IP Group types, enter a value for the number of addresses in the address block. For DHCP Range, if you select Offsets, enter a value for the ending position of the DHCP range. If you select Offsets and Size, enter a set value for the size of the DHCP range. If you select Offsets and Percentage, enter a value for the size of the DHCP range in proportion to the parent network size. For example, the value 20 represents 20% of the parent network size.
   • Name—type a descriptive name to describe the purpose of the block. The Name field is mandatory for the IP group type.

   IPv4 templates can also contain deployment options, including DHCP Client, DHCP Service, DHCP Vendor, DHCPv4 Raw, DNS Raw, DNS options, and a Start of Authority setting. After creating a template, click the template’s Deployment Options tab to set these options in the template.

   Note: A conflict between an object and a template occurs when the object and template have the same deployment option server settings and you perform the following:

   • Add a deployment option to the template and the following are true:
     • The option already exists in the object
     • The values of the option added to the template are different from the values of the option in the IPv4 object
   • Add a deployment option to the object and the following are true:
     • The option already exists in the template
     • The values of the option added to the object are different from the values of the option in the template
   • After applying a template to an object , you change deployment option settings in the object

   If the deployment option server settings of the object and template are different, a conflict doesn't occur.

6. Click Add. To create another template, click Add Next.
