Create the Global ID part of your IPv6 addresses by adding a block to the fc00::/6 Unique Local Address Space.

While you can create the Global ID value manually, BlueCat recommends using the MAC address of the server.

To create the Global ID:

  1. Select the IPAM tab in the sidebar, then select IPv6 blocks.
  2. Select the fc00::/6 range.
  3. Select New > IPv6 block.
  4. Under General, set the following parameters:
    • Select either:
      • MAC address of the server—enter the the MAC address in the format nn:nn:nn:nn:nn:nn where nn is a hexadecimal value from 00 to FF.
        • Get MAC address of the server automatically—select this check box to have Address Manager automatically insert the MAC address of the server into the MAC address of the server field.
      • Range—manually enter the 48-bit site prefix and global ID in CIDR format.
    • Name—enter a name for the IPv6 block.
    • Location—select a location from the drop-down menu on which the IP object that you are adding or editing will be based.
  5. In the Change control section, add comments if required.
  6. Select Create or Create and add another.
