In the event of necessary maintenance or troubleshooting on the BlueCat DNS/DHCP
Server appliance, you should perform the following steps to shutdown the Gateway
service.
To disable Gateway Service:
-
Stop the container from the Diagnostics page.
-
Deselect the Enable Gateway Service checkbox from the
Server Service Configuration page. The
Remove Image and Remove All Volumes and Bind
Mounts checkboxes appear.
-
(Optional) Select the Remove Image checkbox. If
disabling Gateway Service for BDDS maintenance, do not remove the image. BlueCat
recommends removing the image only as part of a container upgrade or if
you intentionally want to delete the image from the BDDS appliance.
Attention: Removing the image deletes the image from the BDDS
permanently. This is an irrevocable step.
- If you remove the image by mistake, you can recover it by
re-enabling Gateway Service and pulling the same image tag from the
same repository.
- If you uploaded the image through the Address Manager UI, you will
need to re-upload the image.
-
(Optional) Select the Remove All Volumes and Bind Mounts
checkbox to remove unused local volumes and the mounted data and logs
directories. If disabling Gateway service for BDDS maintenance, do not remove
the volumes and bind mounts. Leaving the bind mounts on the BDDS ensures that
the Gateway data and logs persist during maintenance and upgrading. BlueCat
recommends selecting this option only if you intentionally want to delete
the mounted data and logs directories from the BDDS appliance.
Attention: If you select Remove All Volumes and Bind Mounts
the mounted data and logs directories will be deleted from the DNS/DHCP
Server permanently. This is an irrevocable step.
-
Click Update.
Allow some time for Address Manager to register the
configuration, after which you will be redirected to the Service
Type dropdown menu page.
