Disabling a server stops all deployments, DDNS updates, and DHCP services. The server can then be removed from the network for repair. A server must always be disabled before it is repaired or replaced, even if it has failed and is no longer connected to the network.

Disabling the server by using the Disable option informs Address Manager to stop its attempts to contact the server and maintain services. After repairing a disabled server, use the Enable option to reconnect the server. The Disable option only appears in the server name menu when the server is connected to Address Manager.

To disable an HSM-enabled DNS Server:

  1. Select the Servers tab in the sidebar, then select Servers.
  2. Select the checkbox for the server that you want to disable, then select Actions > Disable.
  3. In the Change control section, add comments if required.
  4. Select Disable.
