Address Manager supports network redundancy through Active/Backup NIC bonding on Address Manager appliances.

The Active/Backup bonding mode provides fault tolerance when the primary interface (eth0) fails. If the primary interface fails due to physical hardware failure or network outage, the secondary interface (eth1) will take over transparently.
  • Address Manager network redundancy is supported on Address Manager appliances only. For customers running Address Manager virtual machines, BlueCat recommends using the virtual server’s infrastructure redundancy mechanism for physical interfaces.
  • Address Manager network redundancy requires that the eth0 and eth1 interfaces be physically connected to the same subnet.
  • Network redundancy through Active/Active NIC bonding is not supported on Address Manager appliances.

To enable/disable network redundancy on Address Manager:

Note: Enabling/disabling redundancy may require re-wiring of your network switch. BlueCat strongly recommends scheduling a maintenance window during non-peak times for any changes to network redundancy/port bonding. For more information on Address Manager network redundancy, refer to Network redundancy.
  1. Select the Administration tab. Tabs remember the page you last worked on, so select the tab again to ensure you're on the Administration page.
  2. Under General, click System Configuration.
  3. Click Network.
  4. Under Interface Redundancy, select the Enable Interface Redundancy check box to enable the network redundancy; deselect the check box to disable. The supported bonding mode is Active/Backup.
  5. Click Update.
