About CDV

CDV has two primary methods for monitoring cloud resources and updating Address Manager:

Discovery (discovery with scheduled updates)

For scheduled discovery, CDV uses schedule managers to run discovery jobs. For the first discovery job, CDV performs a search through the specified cloud infrastructure and imports the network resources it finds into Address Manager. After the first discovery, CDV will run subsequent discovery jobs (rediscovery) at the user's specified interval to import new resources, update existing resources, and tag or remove deleted cloud resources according to configured discovery options and resource type (see About resource tagging for more info).

Visibility (discovery with real-time updates)

For real-time updates, CDV uses visibility managers to run initial discovery jobs and accept incoming updates through visibility jobs. When a user first creates a visibility manager, CDV runs an initial discovery job to search through the specified cloud infrastructure and import the network resources it finds into Address Manager. Subsequent changes to cloud infrastructure are communicated directly from the cloud provider to CDV in real-time, through visibility jobs.

Accessing CDV

Starting in 26.1, Cloud Discovery & Visibility (CDV) is built into Address Manager servers as a feature module. To get access CDV:

  1. Log in to Address Manager.

  2. Select the CD&V tab in the sidebar.
