To link a naming policy to a DNS view or zone:

  1. Select the DNS tab in the sidebar, then select Views.
  2. Select the name of a view in the Views table or DNS tree.
  3. Do one of the following:
    • To link a naming policy to the view, select the Naming policies tab, then select Add.
    • To link a naming policy to a DNS zone, select the Zones tab, then select the name of a DNS zone. Select the Naming policies tab, then select Add.
  4. Under General, configure the following parameters:
    • Naming policy—select a naming policy from the drop-down list.
    • Inherit children—select the checkbox to have child objects inherit the naming policy from the parent object. For DNS views, this option is selected by default and can't be cleared. For DNS zones, you can select or clear this checkbox.
    • Applied types—the Available and Selected lists show the items to which the naming policy may be applied. The naming policy will be applied to items in the Selected list. The naming policy won't be applied to items in the Available list. By default, all objects within a view or zone to which a naming policy can be applied appear in the Selected list.

To move an item to the other list, select the arrow corresponding to the item. To move an item up or down in the list, select the drag icon corresponding to the item and drop the item into place.

  5. In the Change control section, add comments if required.
  6. Select Save to link the naming policy to the select DNS view or zone.
