Monitor the reachability of LTM and BIG-IP DNS Servers, and the status of DNS/DHCP Servers or xHA pairs in an F5 pool.

To monitor F5 LTM or BIG-IP DNS Servers, you must first configure the BIG-IP DNS/LTM monitoring service from the Service configuration page, then enable monitoring for specific LTM and BIG-IP DNS Servers.

To configure the BIG-IP DNS/LTM Monitoring Service:

  1. Select the Settings tab in the sidebar, then select Service configuration.
  2. Under Monitoring and analytics, locate the BIG-IP DNS/LTM monitoring service panel and select Edit service.
  3. Set the Polling interval at which Address Manager will poll the managed DNS/DHCP Servers in an F5 pool. The minimum interval is 5 minutes.
  4. Add a Change control comment if required.
  5. Select Save.

Enabling monitoring on BIG-IP DNS Servers and Local Traffic Managers

Monitor the reachability of LTM and BIG-IP DNS Servers in an F5 pool.

Enable monitoring on each LTM server and BIG-IP DNS Server in an F5 pool.

To enable monitoring on an LTM or BIG-IP DNS server:

  1. Select the Servers tab in the sidebar, then select Servers.
  2. Select the name of a LTM or BIG-IP DNS server.
  3. Select the Services tab.
  4. Under Monitoring and analytics, locate the BIG-IP DNS/LTM monitoring service panel and select Edit service.
  5. Select the Enabled checkbox.
  6. Select Save.

Address Manager will monitor the reachability of the selected LTM or BIG-IP DNS Server in the F5 pool.
