BlueCat regularly provides patches or hotfixes to DNS/DHCP Server software in order to provide performance enhancements or new functionality. Patches are available from BlueCat Customer Care and are uploaded to Address Manager from your workstation.

Patching DNS/DHCP Server involves two steps:

  1. Uploading the Patch—upload the patch to Address Manager. You can also upload multiple patches at the same time.
  2. Applying the Patch—with the patch(es) uploaded into Address Manager, you can then apply the patch to one DNS/DHCP Server, or multiple DNS/DHCP Servers.
DNS/DHCP Server patches are delivered as two components:
    • A tar.gz or .tar file containing the software patch.
    • A .key file that verifies the integrity of the patch file.
    Note:
    • Some patches and hotfixes provided by BlueCat might require a restart of services, resulting in a service outage. Refer to the specific patch/hotfix release notes for complete details on the effects on service.
    • While you can upload several patches to Address Manager, you can only apply patches one at a time. You can patch DNS/DHCP Server singly or in groups. If they are processed as a group, they reboot in sequence when the update is complete.
Once patches have been applied, you have the option of deleting patches and viewing patch history.
