After an IP reconciliation policy discovers addresses and networks, you can reconcile IP addresses.

To reconcile all addresses, or selected addresses:
From the IP Reconciliation Policy page, choose one of the following actions:
  • To reconcile all of the addresses, click Action and select Reconcile All.
  • To reconcile selected addresses, select one or more addresses from the list, then click Action and select Reconcile.

All of the addresses that can be reconciled are reconciled as follows:

  • Unknown IP addresses are added to the Address Manager database.
  • Reclaimable IP addresses (IPv4 only) are removed from the Address Manager database.
  • Mismatched IP addresses are updated with the information from the most recent discovery operation, overwriting the mismatched data in Address Manager. The only exception to this rule is if an IP address discovered on the network has a different DNS host name from the host name listed in Address Manager. In this situation, Address Manager creates a new host record for the IP address, resulting in multiple host records for the IP address.
Address Manager may not be able to reconcile an address for one of the following reasons:
  • There's a conflict between the size of the physical network and the size of the equivalent IP network object in Address Manager.
  • The IP state between two discovery sessions doesn't match. For example, an earlier discovery session reported the address as Static; before the next discovery session, another user changes its state to Reserved.
