After you reboot Address Manager, you can boot into a previous version of the
software.
Address Manager and DNS/DHCP Server v9.5.0 use the GRUB 2 boot loader which
uses SHA512 encryption for improved security. GRUB 2 also includes a change in
behavior from previous releases. Previously, you could log in to the GRUB menu and
command-line with a password. Now, you must log in with the root user. For more
information on default login credential for Address Manager, refer to BlueCat default login credentials (you must be
authenticated to view this topic).
When you reboot Address Manager (or a DNS/DHCP Server), the GRUB
menu shows two entries: the most recently installed release (the default boot
choice) and the previously installed release.
To boot into the previous software version:
-
Log in to the Address Manager Administration Console as the
administrator. For more information on default login credential for Address
Manager, refer to BlueCat default login credentials (you must be
authenticated to view this topic).
-
At the
Proteus>
prompt (Main Session mode), type
reboot and press ENTER.
The Address Manager server restarts.
-
When the GRUB boot menu appears, press Space bar.
Pressing Space bar at the GRUB boot menu pauses the reboot process,
giving you time to review the menu options and select the version you want to
use.
-
From the GRUB boot menu, press the UP or DOWN arrow keys to
select the previously-installed release, and then press ENTER.
Address Manager boots the previously-installed software release. Subsequent
reboot operations always boot this release until you select the other partition from the
GRUB boot menu.
