The Conflict detection attempts parameter on a Windows DHCP server instructs the server to attempt to ping the IP address it is about to assign to determine if the IP address is already in use.
This helps to prevent duplicate IP addresses on the network. In Windows, this parameter takes the number of pings as its value.
In Address Manager, you can set the conflict detection option at the server
level.
Note: The ping check option also modifies the conflict detection parameter
in Windows. You can set ping check at different levels. However, unlike the
conflict detection option, you can only use the ping check option to enable or
disable conflict detection.
