The following upgrade path is supported when upgrading from CDV 25.3 or 25.3.1 on a BlueCat DNS/DHCP Server (BDDS) to the CDV 26.1 feature module on BlueCat Address Manager (BAM):

Upgrade BAM

  1. Export the CDV 25.3/25.3.1 database (db1).
  2. Disable CDV 25.3/25.3.1 on the BDDS server.
  3. Upgrade the BAM server to version 26.1.0.
  4. Re-enable CDV 25.3/25.3.1 on the BDDS server.
Note: As customers frequently upgrade BAM, BDDS, and CDV in stages, BAM 26.1 supports CDV 25.3/25.3.1 on BDDS.
  5. Import the previously exported CDV 25.3/25.3.1 database (db1).
  6. Verify that the discovery and visibility jobs function as expected.

Upgrade BDDS

  1. Export the CDV 25.3/25.3.1 database again (db2).
  2. Disable CDV 25.3/25.3.1 on the BDDS server.
  3. Upgrade the BDDS server to version 26.1.0.
  4. Re-enable CDV 25.3/25.3.1 on the upgraded BDDS server.
  5. Import the previously exported CDV 25.3/25.3.1 database (db2).
  6. Verify that the discovery and visibility jobs function as expected.

Migrate to CDV 26.1

  1. Export the CDV 25.3/25.3.1 database again (db3).
  2. Disable CDV 25.3/25.3.1 on the BDDS server.
  3. Activate and license CDV 26.1 as a feature module on the BAM server.
  4. Import the previously exported CDV 25.3/25.3.1 database into CDV 26.1 (db3).
  5. Verify that the discovery and visibility jobs function as expected.
Note: After importing the CDV database into CDV 26.1:
  • Scheduled discovery jobs with configured intervals should start automatically.
  • Discovery jobs without intervals should remain stopped.
  • Visibility jobs should start automatically.
