BlueCat recommends creating a snapshot of your instances before any major upgrade or maintenance as a backup.

To create a snapshot:

  1. Navigate to your instance list on the AWS web interface.
  2. Stop the instance by selecting the instance and performing Actions > Instance State > Stop instance.
  3. Under Elastic Block Store in the left navigation pane, select Snapshots.
  4. Select Create snapshot.
  5. Under Snapshot settings, select the Volume resource type and enter the Volume ID for the volume associated with the BlueCat AWS Virtual Appliance instance.
Note: You can find the volume associated with your BlueCat AWS Virtual Appliance by selecting the Instance ID from the instance list page and navigating to the Storage tab for details on configured storage.
  6. Enter a description and add tags for the snapshot if necessary.
  7. Select Create snapshot.

Snapshot creation will begin.
