Attention: Configuring BlueCat DHCP service on AWS

If you are configuring DHCP service on your BlueCat DNS/DHCP Server on AWS, the DHCP traffic to the BlueCat DNS/DHCP Server on AWS must be unicast. AWS does not support broadcast in a VPC. If you would like to configure DHCP service on a BlueCat DNS/DHCP Server on AWS to be accessible from on-premise devices using a DHCP helper or relay, the traffic must be unicast.

The BlueCat AWS Virtual Appliance cannot provide DHCP to any AWS EC2 devices within the VPC where it resides, as this is handled automatically by AWS for hosts. The BlueCat AWS Virtual Appliance can provide unicast DHCP as a service to hosts external to the VPC.
