This section explains how to launch BlueCat DNS for Microsoft Azure VM instances using the Azure Portal.
This task assumes that you are already familiar with Azure-related settings as well as BAM
and BDDS operations.
Prerequisites for launching virtual
appliances on Azure:
- You must have a valid Azure subscription.
- You must obtain your BlueCat DNS for Microsoft Azure licenses from BlueCat Customer Care. As part of the configuration while launching your virtual appliances, you will be required to provide a BlueCat Client ID and Activation Key.
Note: BlueCat strongly recommends connecting to your Azure
Virtual Network using a VPN connection when working in a mixed
environment where part of your DNS, DHCP, and IPAM (DDI) infrastructure is
on-site and part of it is on the Azure
cloud.
Launching a BlueCat DNS for Microsoft Azure instance involves the following tasks:
