When setting up a Discovery job for a Cisco ACI infrastructure, you must scan the Cisco ACI network for possible tenants to discover. You can then specify which tenants to use for each Discovery job, whether it's an immediate Discovery or a Scheduled Discovery job configured to run later.
To discover available tenants on a Cisco ACI network:
-
If you haven't already done so, log in to BlueCat Gateway.
-
Go to the BlueCat Cisco ACI workflow. (Click the Navigator button if necessary, then click Cisco ACI.)
-
Enter connection and authentication details:
-
In APIC URL, enter the IP address of the Cisco Application Policy Infrastructure Controller (APIC).
Tip: BlueCat Cisco ACI remembers the settings you use for specific APIC URLs, and will restore them if you select a previously-used URL. -
In APIC Username, enter the username for the account that BlueCat Gateway should use to sign in to the controller.
-
In APIC Password, enter the password for the APIC account.
-
-
(Optional) If you want, in the Fabric section, import APIC, SPINE, and LEAF devices from the ACI Fabric.
The spine is the ACI network to which other network components are connected. Leaf devices are the devices and endpoints connected to an ACI network.
To import fabric devices:
-
In Configuration, select the BAM Configuration (or enter the name of a new BAM Configuration) into which you want to import the Fabric devices.
Note: This BAM Configuration setting is distinct from the BAM Configuration into which tenant information is added. It can be the same or a different Configuration as that used for Cisco ACI tenants. -
Click Import fabric.
-
-
Before you import information into BlueCat Address Manager, you must select the tenants that you want to import. To acquire a list of available tenants to import, in the Tenant Discovery section, click Load Tenants.
The BlueCat Cisco ACI workflow searches the Cisco ACI infrastructure for tenants, devices, and other infrastructure elements. The workflow displays a summary of the discovered items in the Discovered tenant table.
To refresh the Discovered tenant table later, in the top right corner of the table, click Reload Tenants.
Note: If a tenant is used in a Scheduled Discovery job, when that job is executed, BlueCat Cisco ACI stores details for that tenant in thesettings.json
file. From then on, when you reload tenants, BlueCat Cisco ACI will use details from thesettings.json
file as well as newly-discovered tenant information.
