The following features were added in BlueCat Cisco ACI v24.1:

Improved user experience

This release of BlueCat Cisco ACI features a heavily-revised user interface to align with the latest standards set for BlueCat products. All previous features and functionality are still present, but available in an interface that is easier to use.

Scheduled discoveries

You can now schedule discovery of tenant devices continually and automatically re-run after a specified interval. Scheduled discoveries are useful for keeping BlueCat Address Manager up to date with changes in the Cisco ACI infrastructure.

When using scheduled discoveries, you can specify a subset of tenants to re-discover — distinct from those run during initial discovery. You can also pause and restart discoveries at any time from the BlueCat Cisco ACI UI.

Saved configuration and status of discovery settings

BlueCat Cisco ACI now saves the configuration and settings for Cisco ACI jobs and discoveries in a settings.json file in the BlueCat Cisco ACI custom workspace (or on disk). This means that users can log out, log in, and refresh their browser without losing saved configuration settings. This file will also be used to maintain configuration settings during future upgrades of BlueCat Cisco ACI.

Settings are saved when a scheduled discovery is run or resources are imported from the fabric. BlueCat Cisco ACI maintains separate sets of configuration settings for each APIC URL to which you connect.

Import of Cisco APIC encapsulation types and identifiers

Encapsulation types (such as VLAN/VXLAN/QinQ) and identifiers for ACI endpoint devices are imported into BAM and stored in UDFs. The encapsulation type and identifier (ID) are stored in the ENCAP UDF for a BAM device in the following format:

<Encapsulation type>-<Encapsulation ID>

New BlueCat Cisco ACI REST API

A new REST API for performing BlueCat Cisco ACI operations is now available. To access the REST API Swagger documentation while within the BlueCat Cisco ACI UI, click Help in the window header and select BlueCat Cisco ACI plugin API.
