Configuring the Auto Scavenging service - Adaptive Applications - BlueCat Gateway - 23.2.3

BlueCat Distributed DDNS Administration Guide

Product name
BlueCat Gateway

On a Data Node, the Auto Scavenging service manages the automated scavenging service on and for that data node. The service removes stale resource records from the database and DNS server periodically using the aging and scavenging settings configured in the Configuration section of the DNS Zone or Reverse DNS pages. If the data node is shut down, the service is automatically started on another data node in the cluster.

  1. If it's not already displayed, click the Database Nodes tab.

  2. In the Manage DB Nodes table, in the Auto Scavenge column, click the Settings gear icon for the row of the node you want to manage. This icon will be different colors (typically  green) depending on the service status.

  3. In the configuration window, enter the following information:

Where the parameters represent the following:
    • READ_SCAVENGE_INTERVALS:: The interval at which the data node scavenges and removes stale records (in seconds). By default, the service reads the scavenging configuration every 300 seconds (5 minutes).

  4. When you're done, click Save to save the Auto Scavenging service configuration.

  5. After the changes are saved, click Start to start the service.
