Important: When upgrading to Distributed DDNS v23.2.3, you must apply Distributed DDNS patches in sequential order. That is, if you're upgrading from v23.1, you must apply the update for v23.2 to all components, then the updates for v23.2.1, v23.2.2, and 23.2.3, in that order. Do not skip patch versions.

When upgrading Distributed DDNS components to v23.2.3, you must upgrade each component in the system.

BlueCat strongly recommends updating components in the following order:
  1. Upgrade the distributed DDNS Application Node

The Distributed DDNS Application Node must be upgraded first so that it can be used to upgrade the remaining components within the system.

  2. Upgrade the distributed DDNS Data Node and database cluster

  3. Upgrade the distributed DDNS Database Schema

  4. Upgrade the distributed DDNS Service Node

In addition, there are several considerations if you're running all three nodes (the Application Node, a Data Node, and the Service Node) on a single BlueCat DNS/DHCP Server. For more details, see Upgrading Distributed DDNS with all three nodes on a single BDDS.
