Prerequisites:
- You must have one of the following BlueCat hardware appliance models:
- XMB4
- BDDS-25
- BDDS-50
- BDDS-75
- BDDS-125
- You must have downloaded the Service Point v4 installation image and the Service Point v4 configuration file from the Service Points (v4) page. For more information, refer to Provision Service Point v4 on BlueCat hardware appliances.
- You must have at least one USB drive with at least 2GB of disk space. The USB drive will be used to create a bootable USB drive for the installation image and for loading the configuration file to be read by the re-imaged appliance.
- Create a bootable USB drive that contains the Service Point v4 installation image that was downloaded from the Service Point (v4) overview page.
- Plug in the bootable USB drive to the BlueCat hardware appliance.
- Power on the appliance.
- Interrupt its boot process and enter the BIOS setup screen by pressing F2 immediately after powering on the appliance.
- Use the right arrow key to navigate to the Boot menu tab.
- Under Boot Option Priorities, select the USB drive as the boot device.
- Press F4 to save the settings and exit.
The appliance restarts and the installation of Service Point v4 automatically starts from the USB device. Once the installation process is complete, a message appears in the console indicating that the installation has completed.
- Power off the appliance and unplug the USB drive.
The Service Point v4 software is now installed on the BlueCat hardware appliance.
- On a USB drive, load the Service Point configuration file that was downloaded after you saved the Service Point configuration.
- Plug in the bootable USB drive to the appliance.
- Power on the appliance.Note: Ensure that the appliance boots from the default boot disk rather than the USB drive.
The appliance starts with the Service Point v4 software. Upon the initial boot of the software, cloud-init runs and reads the configuration from the connected USB drive. Once the configuration has been read, the Service Point v4 daemon processes start and the service point registers with the Edge Cloud Instance.
- Once the service point registers, you can unplug the USB drive.
You can verify the status of the service point by checking the details on the Service points (v4) page. The Status field on the service point details page displays Registered when the Service Point v4 has successfully connected to the Edge Cloud Instance.
Once you have provisioned the Service Point v4, you can deploy DNS resolver service. For more information, refer to DNS resolver services.
For more information on the Service Point v4 telemetry APIs, refer to Service Point v4 Telemetry APIs.
