BlueCat Cloud Resolver provides immediate resolution to and across private virtual networks that have been deployed to cloud environments. Once deployed in a region, it becomes cloud-aware and discovers all DNS zones within the cloud infrastructure. The discovered DNS zones are added to a single BlueCat Edge domain list for any endpoint in the data center or cloud to resolve queries. Cloud Resolver is cloud-agnostic, allowing network teams to embrace any combination of private cloud vendors without getting buried in DNS conditional forwarding rules.
Once you have deployed Cloud Resolver and it begins adding domain list information into your Edge environment, you can view details about the Cloud Resolver instance. Additionally, you can click the name of the domain list that Cloud Resolver writes cloud data to and review the list of domains discovered.
For more information on Cloud Resolver, refer to BlueCat Cloud Resolverthe BlueCat Cloud Resolver Administration Guide on the Product Documentation Portal.
- In the top navigation bar, click and select Cloud resolvers.
- Select the name of a Cloud Resolver instance to bring up additional information
about the instance:
- Name: The name of the Cloud Resolver instance.
- Connection State: The connection state of that Cloud Resolver instance, including how long it has been in that state.
- Last Sync: The timestamp of the last received diagnostics update from the Cloud Resolver instance.
- Role: The role of the Cloud Resolver instance.
- Platform: The platform on which the Cloud Resolver instance is deployed.
- CSP discovery: The cloud service provider that Cloud Resolver is discovering information from.
- Region: The region in which Cloud Resolver is discovering information.
- Vault Type: The vault used to store the secret keys for Edge and CSP remote tenants.
- Version: The software version running on the Cloud Resolver instance.
- Domain List: The domain list that discovered DNS zones are added to. Click the name of the domain list to navigate to the Domain list page and open additional information about the domain list.
- Zone count: The number of discovered DNS zones.
- IP addresses: The IP addresses of the Cloud Resolver instance.
- Fallback resolvers: The IP addresses of fallback resolvers.
- Health: The health of the Cloud Resolver instance.
The health field displays information about the health of discovery jobs and
domain updates:
- Successful discovery jobs: Displays
information about the number of successful cloud resource discovery
runs and the number of failed resource discovery runs.
The failure metrics are divided into two categories: Prior failures which indicates the number of previously failed discovery jobs that occurred before a successful discovery, and Live failures which indicates the number of failed discovery jobs that have occurred since the last successful discovery job.
- Successful domain list updates: Displays
information about the number of successful domain lost updates in
Edge and the number of failed domain list updates in Edge.
The failure metrics are divided into two categories: Prior failures which indicates the number of previously failed domain list updates that occurred before a successful domain list update, and Live failures which indicates the number of failed domain list updates that have occurred since the last successful domain list update.
If you find an increasing number of failed discovery jobs and failed domain list updates, this may indicate an error in the connection or configuration of Cloud Resolver. For more information, refer to Troubleshooting Cloud Resolverthe 'Troubleshooting Cloud Resolver' section in the BlueCat Cloud Resolver Administration Guide.
