GSLB rules determine how DNS queries are responses to based on matching criteria.

Attention: You must have the BlueCat Edge GSLB license entitlements to create GSLB rules. Verify that you have the correct licensing with your BlueCat Edge administrators before proceeding to configure this feature.

To configure the GSLB rule:

  1. In the top navigation bar, click and select GSLB service > GSLB rules.
  2. To add a new GSLB rule, click New.
  3. Enter the name and description of the GSLB rule.
  4. (Optional) Under Match criteria, enter the following criteria of the DNS query to match the GSLB rule:
    • Under Source IP addresses, enter one or more CIDR blocks or IP list names that you would like to match the GSLB rule.
    • Select Use EDNS client subnet (ECS) to enable matching on EDNS client subnets (ECS) rather than the source IP of the query.
    • Under Query names, enter one or more domains or domains lists to match the GSLB rule.
  5. Under Answer set actions, enter at least one of the following actions to perform on DNS answers:
    • Under Remove addresses, enter one or more CIDR blocks or IP list names that you would like to remove from the DNS answer.
    • Under Prioritize addresses, enter one or more CIDR blocks or IP list names to create a list or prioritized addresses. Click Add another list to create an additional list of prioritized addresses.

You can drag lists of prioritized addresses to ensure that higher priority addresses respond to incoming queries.

    • Select Exclude unhealthy answers from the answer set to ensure that any addresses that are listed as unhealthy are not included in the list of answers, based on the health check configurations.
    • Select Prioritize healthy answers over answers that have no associated health statuses to ensure that addresses that return a healthy status are prioritized over those that don't return a health status.
    • Under Limit answers, enter a value to limit the number of answers returned.
  6. Click Save.
