Once you have created discovery configurations, you can assign them to a discovery instance. A discovery instance periodically discovers DNS data from the environments specified in the discovery configurations assigned to it, uploads a snapshot per configuration to the Edge Cloud, and updates associated discovered domain lists.
If you assign multiple discovery configurations to a discovery instance, DNS data periodically discovered by these instances are done so in parallel. This provides a higher level of fault tolerance; however, this can cause additional resource constraints on the environment where the discovery is performed.
To deploy the discovery instance
- In the top navigation bar, click and select .
- To add a new discovery instance, click New.
- Enter the name of the discovery instance.
- Select the name of a Service Point v4 that will pull the discovery configuration. After you have saved your selection, the service points appear below the Service point field.
- Select the Service version that you would like to deploy.
- Under Discovery configurations, select one or more discovery configurations that will be used by the discovery instance.
- Click Deploy.
Note: Clicking the Deploy button queues the
deployment task on the associated service point and does not indicate that the discovery
instance has been immediately deployed. The deployment process can take a few minutes to
successfully complete.
