Provisioning Service Point v4 on Equinix:
  1. Log in to the Network Edge Marketplace.
  2. On the BlueCat Edge Service Point v4 card, click Select and Continue.
  3. Under Select Deployment Type, select one of the following:
    • Single Device – Provision a single device that operates as a standalone device. Another single device can be paired with the existing single device (requires the same resource configuration) to form a local redundancy (redundancy in a single metro) or geo-redundancy (each device operates in a different metro).
    • Redundant Device – Provision two devices. Each device operates individually, and you are responsible for configuring those in an Active-Active scenario. You can deploy both devices in two different metros (recommended) to achieve distributed architecture, or keep both devices in the same metro.

If you select Redundant Device, follow the workflow and select the Redundancy option. Create a new pair of redundant devices or add an additional device to an existing device.

  4. Click Begin Creating Edge Devices.
  5. Under the Select Edge Device Location section, select a location.
  6. Under the Account section, select a billing account from the Your accounts in this metro dropdown menu.
  7. Click Next: Device Details.
  8. Under Connectivity Type, the value defaults to Without Equinix Public IP Address.
  9. The Licensing option defaults to Bring Your Own License. The license along with other configuration variables are included in the configuration file.
  10. Under Device Configuration File, click Choose a file and upload the configuration file that was downloaded when creating the Service Point v4 in the Edge CI.
  11. In the Device Resources section, select the virtual machine resource type, along with the Software Package and Software Version. For more information on the device resource specifications, refer to BlueCat Edge Service Point VNF specifications.
Note: You can only provision Service Point v4.6.3 in Equinix Network Edge.
  12. In the Device Details section, enter:
    • Device Name – The name for the device used to identify it in the portal.
  13. In the Interfaces section, select the number of interfaces for the device. The default 1 interface is the only option.
  14. In the Device Status Notifications box, enter the email addresses of anyone who should receive email notifications regarding device status.
Note: We strongly recommend adding multiple email addresses so that more than one user receives any notification for this device.
  15. (Optional) In the Optional Details box, enter the Purchase Order Number and Order Reference/Identifier.
  16. In the Term Length drop-down menu, select a term length.
  17. Click Next: Additional Services to add any additional services. Only one additional service is available for this device type:
    • Diverse Compute from an Existing Single Device – If you already have another single device and you would like this new device to exist in a different plane, select Select Diverse From and select the existing device.
  18. Click Next: Review.
  19. In the Terms & Conditions box, click Review and Accept Order Terms.
  20. Select I have read and understand these terms and click Accept.
  21. Click Create Edge Device.

Once you have provisioned the Service Point v4 VM, you can deploy DNS resolver service. For more information, refer to DNS resolver services.

Attention: You can use the Service Point v4 telemetry APIs to verify that the Service Point v4 VM has successfully registered. The registrationStatus field within the Service Point v4 telemetry API response returns a value of REGISTERED when the Service Point v4 VM has successfully registered with the BlueCat Edge Cloud. If the value is not REGISTERED, this may indicate that there is an issue with the service point provisioning and the service point may not operate as intended.

For more information on the Service Point v4 telemetry APIs, refer to Service Point v4 Telemetry APIs.
