After you create the roles needed for your business and configure their permissions, you can assign them to groups and users. This means you can manage what system objects and actions those users have permission to access and complete.
Adding roles to groups
You can assign groups to roles, which allows you to designate common access permissions to a group of users.
To assign a role to a group:
- On the Groups page, locate and select the group to which you want to assign a role.
- On the group's details page, select the Roles tab.
- Select Add.
- In the dialog, start entering the name of a role to which you want to assign the
group. A list of roles will populate the dropdown. Select the role(s) you want
to assign.
- When you've selected all the roles you want to add, select Add.
The role(s) you added will be displayed on the group's Roles tab. If at some point you need to change the role(s) assigned to the group, you can add or remove roles from this tab.
Adding roles to users
You can also assign users to roles, to define their effective access on an individual basis.
To assign a user to a role:
- Navigate to and locate the user to which you want to assign a role.
- Select the user in the list.
- On the user's details page, select the Roles tab.
- Select Add.
- In the dialog, start entering the name of a role to which you want to assign the
user. A list of roles will populate the dropdown. Select the role(s) you want to
assign.
- When you've selected all the roles you want to add, select Add.
The role(s) you added will be displayed on the user's Roles tab. If at some point you need to change the role(s) assigned to the user, you can add or remove roles from this tab.
