BlueCat Horizon provides a single, unified user interface and API, which comprises several components and applications that interact to provide a platform for network management and DDI orchestration.

When you log into BlueCat Horizon, a global control layer called the Global Data Center (GDC) handles authentication and routes you to the correct Regional Data Center (RDC) and Virtual Customer Instance (VCI). The VCI is your tenant, an isolated enviroment within BlueCat Horizon. This tenant contains your connections, configurations, policies, telemetry, and administrators. Each VCI runs inside an RDC, which are BlueCat Horizon deployments in specific geographies, such as North America or Europe, that keep your data and processing local for latency and data residency.

Connections connect directly to their regional RDC, and all that data is stored and processed in that region under your VCI.

Connection hub
  • Centralized location for the maintenance of connections, such as agents
  • Provides a tunnel between local, on-premise agents and the cloud
  • The tunnel allows applications managing network services to communicate over a secure encrypted channel without requiring any new cloud endpoints to be opened in the customer networks and firewalls.
Identity service
  • Uses Auth0 to authenticate users
  • Manages users, roles, and groups across all RDCs
Dashboard service
  • Provides the charting and backing analytics for the information displayed on the Overview dashboard
Audit service The source of truth for available audit records
Global Data Center (GDC) Global directory and routing layer
Regional Data Center (RDC) Regionally deployed clusters responsible for direct interaction with customer network devices
Horizon DDI orchestrator Provides a single IPAM layer for managing DNS and DHCP services running on Microsoft, open source, or public clouds.
