When dealing with multiple interfaces and IP addresses, it can become difficult to locate the specific item you want to view or edit. To streamline this process, configure the device's interfaces to allow for easier searching and configuration.
Through DDI orchestrator, you can add new interfaces, link and unlink IP addresses, edit device properties, and delete interfaces.
To configure a device interface:
- In the list on the Devices tab of the IPAM page, select the device.
- Use either the Action menu or the ellipses in the row to select Configure interfaces.
- In the dialog, use the search box to filter the information by connection type,
interface, IP address, or other properties.
- Select the item you want to configure.
- Select a configuration option using the ellipses in the item's row.
Editing IP address properties
If necessary, you can edit the properties of a device interface's linked IP address.
To edit IP address properties:
- On the Devices tab, use the ellipses in the row for the device to select Configure interfaces.
- In the dialog, select the linked IP address you want to edit.
- Use the ellipses in the row to select Edit IP
address.
- Edit the IP address' custom properties as needed and select Save.
Creating DNS records for interface IP addresses
You can create DNS records for a specific IP address on a device interface.
To create a DNS record:
- On the Devices list, use the ellipses in the row for the device to select Configure interfaces.
- In the dialog, select the linked IP address for which you want to create a DNS record.
- Use the ellipses in the row to select Create DNS record.
- Enter the required information into the provided form. The hostname must be
fully qualified.
- Select Create now or use the dropdown to select Add to request to add the DNS record creation to a request.
Deleting a related DNS record from an IP address
You can delete a DNS record that has been related to an IP address for a device interface, if needed.
To delete a DNS record:
- In the Devices list, use the ellipses in the row for the device to select Configure interfaces.
- In the dialog, select the linked IP address for which you want to delete a related DNS record.
- Use the ellipses in the row to select Delete related record.
- In the dialog, select either Add to request to add the
deletion to a request or use the dropdown to select Delete
now and delete the record immediately.
Creating a DHCP reservation
You can create a DHCP reservation for an interface's IP address.
To create a DHCP reservation:
- In the Devices list, use the ellipses in the row for the device to select Configure interfaces.
- In the dialog, select the linked IP address for which you want to create a DHCP reservation.
- Use the ellipses in the row to select Create DHCP reservation.
- Enter the required information about the DHCP reservation in the provided
form.
- Select Create.
