When you create a DHCP scope, DDI orchestrator will automatically check for conflicts with existing scopes and IP ranges. The network and broadcast addresses for the scope will be automatically configured.
If the DHCP server on which you're creating the scope is configured to use a failover relationship, you can add the scope to the failover. You can also add the scope to a DHCP superscope if superscopes have already been created on the DHCP server.
Note: When creating a DHCPv6 scope for a Microsoft or a Kea DHCP server, you must specify a
preference value for the DHCP scope. If the scope is assigned to multiple servers, the
DHCP client will select the server with the lowest preference value.
- On the IPAM page, select the Create button in the task bar.
- Use the dropdown to select DHCP scope.
- In the wizard, enter the network mask in the Network field. Then select Next.
- Select a DHCP server from the dropdown to automatically allocate IP addresses from this network.
- Select the Enabled checkbox to enable the DHCP scope to start allocating IP addresses immediately. If you want to configure the scope further, make sure the checkbox is unselected.
- Specify an address pool, as a subsection of the network from which to dynamically allocate.
- Then select Next.
- (Optional) Add the scope to a superscope by selecting a DHCP superscope from the dropdown. Then select Next.
- (Optional) If the server is configured to use a failover relationship and you want to add the scope to the failover, select the relationship from the dropdown. Then select Next.
- Enter a Title for the DHCP scope and an optional description.
- Set any custom properties required by your system setup. Then select Next.
- (Optional) Add the new DHCP scope to a folder, if desired. Then select Next.
- In the Summary step, review the new DHCP scope. To automatically open the new scope after creation, select the Open DHCP network after creating checkbox.
- Select Finish.
