Creating ranges - User Guide - BlueCat Horizon

An IP address range, or network, is a block of IP addresses defined for partitioning the address space. Networks can include reserved addresses for network and broadcast functions.

When you create a new IP address range, you can reserve a network and broadcast address, and lock the range if needed.

To create an IP address range:

1. On the IPAM page, select the Create button in the task bar.
2. Use the dropdown to select Network.
3. In the wizard, enter the network's IP address and subnet mask in the Network field.
4. Select the Reserve network and broadcast addresses checkbox to reserve the first and last IP addresses as broadcast and network addresses respectively.
5. Select the Locked checkbox to mark the newly defined network as locked, meaning that IP addresses cannot be allocated from it in DDI orchestrator.
6. Select Next.
7. Enter a Title for the network and an optional Description.
8. Set any custom properties required by your system setup. Then select Next.
9. (Optional) Add the new network to a folder, if desired. Then select Next.
10. In the Summary step, review the new network's information. To automatically open the new network after creation, select the Open IP network after creating checkbox.
11. Select Finish.
